Kids Puppet Club

Studies have shown six benefits of puppet-play for children:

  1. Stimulating imagination. Children remember stories better if they claim ownership through puppets they make.
  2. Emotional developement. Puppets are life-like yet listen to children without interrupting them.
  3. Improving motor skills. Puppetry movement is complex yet easy enough to teach hand coordination of children.
  4. Learning etiquette. Sometimes children listen better to their puppets on proper behaviour parents wish to impart.
  5. Boosting confidence in speaking. Children can create and tell stories through their puppets without being judged.
  6. Group participation. Children learn how to coordinate with each other during a puppet performance.

The Kids Puppet Club caters to encourage young children (5 to 10 years old) to participate in the process of making and performing puppets themselves under the guidance of our resident puppeteer. It is held every Saturday, 11am to 1pm. The class opens with the introduction and briefing of the day’s theme and the characters they will be making and performing the puppets from. The making part normally lasts about an hour and the performing part normally lasts another hour. All materials will be provided for the children.

If you would like your children to join a Saturday class, please reserve a place as walk-in purchase cannot be guaranteed a place for the same day’s class. Participation is limited to 10 children per class.
